Radiation Protection & Physics Services
Welcome
The Diagnostic Radiology & Radiation Protection Department at New Cross Hospital is responsible for advising on and implementing the statutory requirements covering all use of diagnostic and therapeutic ionising radiations within the Trust, other NHS community services, and some private contracts within the West Midlands region. A Schedule of quality control testing is performed on all radiological & imaging equipment within the Trust, NHS community, and other contracts as required by guidance and statutory requirements. We also have expertise in non-ionising radiations, including laser and ultra-violet therapies, ultrasound, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). |
 |
We have two Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA) and Laser Protection Officer (LPO) for the Trust and other organisations, and they are key members of the Radiation Safety Group.
The Diagnostic Radiology & Radiation Protection service at New Cross Hospital is dedicated to helping customers develop and maintain safe practice by providing advice from our qualified RPA and Medical Physics Expert (MPE). Other services provided include: commissioning tests, risk assessment, and radiation safety testing of equipment.
